Scorpio eSports | Timothy Friis Larsen Becomes iRacing Super Formula Triple Champion in the Top Split

Friis Larsen Becomes iRacing Super Formula Triple Champion in the Top Split

Timothy Friis Larsen, one of our brightest signings and one of the sport’s rising stars, has secured a record-breaking third championship title in the official iRacing Super Formula top split. After taking a decisive pole position by three tenths, Tim went on to win the race and secure his third championship crown.

The extensive setup work carried out with our Head Engineer, James Whitehead of Sakura Engineering, a real-life prototype engineer, once again paid off. Together, they developed a unique asymmetric setup designed to improve temperature control of the left-front tyre, something rarely seen in open-wheel racing. The solution proved particularly effective at Mugello, a notoriously demanding circuit with long corners, extreme elevation changes and significant tyre stress.

I personally want to say how proud I am of Tim and everything he has achieved. I’ll also give you a little sneak peek at his custom training plan. You can only guess what this training is for...

Devlin Shines on Track, Securing Career-Best BMW 116i Cup Finish

Charlie Devlin once again demonstrated why we consider him an exceptional talent. In a field of 37 cars, Charlie qualified third for the main race and quickly moved into the lead within the opening laps.

After 70 minutes of hard racing and two pit stops, however, his hopes of a podium were ended in the final sector when another car made contact with him during a late attempt to gain position. The collision damaged Charlie’s car, but he managed to nurse it through the final 20 minutes and still secure a career-best 6th place.

Naturally, Charlie was frustrated afterwards, but frustration is part of racing. With his father Den supporting him throughout his development, there is no doubt that such a talented young driver has a bright future ahead. The pace is already there, and the podiums and victories will come.

Best of luck to Charlie in the races ahead.

Scorpio Motorsport Makes Strong Comeback at Snetterton

Round 5 of the GB4 Championship once again produced mixed emotions for Scorpio Motorsport, with Archie Davies, Romuald Bocquet and Faris Organji scoring points in all three races.

Archie was unfortunate to take a major trip through the grass while avoiding a spinning car ahead, while Romuald produced one of the drives of the weekend, fighting back from 21st on the grid to finish 8th.

Considering all three drivers are newcomers to open-wheel racing and entered one of Europe’s most competitive junior championships without prior experience of British circuits or the MSV GB4-025 car, their progress has been extremely encouraging. The team has a recorded a podium and consistent points finishes at every event, a strong indication that the development is moving in the right direction.

Two rounds remain, with Donington Park on September 3-6 followed by Brands Hatch GP on September 24-27.

Stay tuned.
