Scorpio Enter British F4 eSports

Scorpio Motorsport is not a newcomer to racing. With over 25 years of history and countless victories in real-world motorsport, the team has established itself across endurance and single-seater racing. Building on this heritage, Scorpio has now entered the digital world with Scorpio eSports and its pioneering Scorpio NextGen program — the  structured pathway designed to take sim racers and engineers from their rigs and into real-world racing seats and garages.

Scorpio’s mission is simple yet ambitious: to prove that sim racing is more than a game. Through NextGen, the team scouts, trains, and manages talented sim racers with the goal of preparing them for professional motorsport careers. Whether as drivers, engineers, or future leaders of the sport, Scorpio believes the virtual world can be a direct stepping stone to reality.

Scorpio has already shown that the sim-to-real pathway is more than just theory. Earlier this year, the team invited a sim racing engineer to join Scorpio Motorsport at Silverstone, working trackside during a professional race weekend. It was the first known case of a sim engineer making the transition to the real paddock — proof that this project delivers on its promises.

The team’s identity is also shaped by its community. The striking purple-and-yellow livery currently run by Scorpio eSports was originally chosen through a fan-driven livery competition, before being refined for F4 by professional designer Kaguya Designs. And when one of Scorpio’s NextGen drivers makes it to a real grid, that very livery will be carried onto a real-world car.

At the helm of this ambitious project is Team Principal Ivan Taranov, a former professional driver and ex-Force India Young Driver Academy member, with experience in Formula 2, Formula 3, GT, GP3, Formula Renault. Ivan knows firsthand what it takes to climb the ladder, and his focus now is to build opportunities for the next generation of talent to follow. Working closely with Jonathan Pettitt, the owner of Scorpio Motorsport, the opportunities for aspiring racers are right there.

The Drivers

  • Noah Osbaldeston (UK, 17) – A young British-French talent with real-world experience in karting and Radicals. Noah is coached by Neil Riddiford, who once coached Ivan himself, bringing the story full circle. With proven top-10 pace in highly competitive fields, Noah brings speed, maturity, and huge potential to the team.

  • Alexander Strobel (GER, 16) – A newcomer to iRacing but already a revelation. After just 2 weeks of testing, Alexander is within seven-tenths of the benchmark times. His rapid progress highlights both his natural ability and Scorpio’s focus on long-term development.

  • Charles Wimbley (USA, 21) – Reserve Driver – Full of potential and determined to prove himself. Charles is already catching attention as a future regular, with sights firmly set on becoming a main driver in the 2026 season.

By joining the 2025 British F4 eSports Championship — competing alongside the industry leaders — Scorpio Motorsport continues to build its bridge between the virtual and real paddock. Every race, every lap, and every driver is part of a bigger mission: showing that with talent, dedication, and the right support, sim racers can become real racers.
