Overview

William Payton May, known in racing circles as PayMay, began sim racing with a wheel in 2021 purely for fun. What started as casual online racing quickly became something more serious after he joined a Facebook-based racing community that placed a strong emphasis on clean driving and racecraft. Racing nightly within Ghost Viper Gaming, William found both inspiration and structure, an environment that pushed him to improve and take sim racing seriously.

That foundation helped shape his approach to competition. William’s long-term ambition is to build a sustainable career in motorsport, whether behind the wheel or working trackside, and he approaches sim racing as a legitimate stepping stone toward that goal. His results reflect steady progress at a high level, including becoming a Porsche Esports Challenge Finalist in 2023, earning Gold Medals in both SFGE and SEGE in 2025, and finishing Runner-Up in the 2024 Gran Turismo World Series Lexus Manufacturer Cup.

Alongside sim racing, PayMay brings real-world racing experience from three years of dirt oval karting, where he achieved multiple race wins and finished Runner-Up in the Alabama Burris State Championship during his debut season. While real-world opportunities may be geographically limited to the United States, his motivation to succeed in motorsport remains unchanged.

William’s career aspirations extend beyond individual results. He aims to become a respected professional capable of driving meaningful change within motorsport, whether that means competing on track or contributing behind the scenes. His racing interests gravitate toward GT3, IMSA, and WEC-style competition, and his favourite circuit is the Nürburgring, a track that rewards patience, precision, and mental endurance.

A lifelong motorsport fan, William’s all-time favourite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr., whose legacy and racing ethos continue to influence him. Outside of racing, he enjoys riding quads and is planning his first GNCC quad racing season in 2026 or 2027, alongside building model cars and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
